Privacy Policy

The Canoe Club of Centre County web site allows visitors to electronically participate in various club activities. By doing so, you may submit, through the use of electronic forms, forums, email and/or other forms of messages, personal information.  You may pay for a new membership or renew an existing membership. In the course of providing these online services, you may be asked for personal information. Our policy regarding the privacy of your personal information is as follows:

Personal Information

As part of some interactions on this site, you may be asked for your name, address, e-mail address and other personal information. The information we collect is intended to help us keep an up-to-date record of our membership population, and to provide you with information about club activities, news, events, and decisions. We will not provide this information to any outside parties.

If you join The Canoe Club of Centre County online, you will receive our regular membership communications, including all CCofCC listserv emails and the club newsletter. You can, at any time, ask to no longer receive these communications by emailing the club president to request removal from the membership list.

You may choose to share personal information with other members via the listserv or forums. While the listserv and certain forums are for members only, the club has no way control the distribution of any content once it has reached the intended recipient. The user must choose whether to participate in these services and what information, if any, you expose by your use of these services.

Transaction Processing

All financial transactions will be handled via a third party web site (such as PayPal) and will abide by the privacy policy of that entity. Our web site does not store or transmit your credit card information in any way.

Our Commitment To Data Security

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

These procedures are regularly evaluated and updated to conform to industry standard practices.

How do we protect your information?

Personal information that you submit is transmitted over an encrypted path to our server. Sensitive information is stored on the server in encrypted form. Your data is not physically stored on the same server that delivers our web content to you. There is no web site user account access to the data server. Communications between the two servers is via an internal network and does not use the public internet.

You have complete access to personal information that we have collected from you and you have the ability to update that information at any time by using the My Account page.

Browser Information

Our web server may place temporary cookies on your machine containing information that is used to maintain your session as you navigate the web site. These cookies are designed to allow us to provide you a more focused user-experience (for example, return you to a certain page after completing a related action).

We may be able to determine your current physical location using geolocation services built into your browser. We may use these services to provide you with enhanced mapping or link related information based on your current location. Please use the appropriate settings for your particular browser if you wish to turn off the geolocation service.

We use JavaScript to perform many functions on the site such as animating slide shows and form input validation. In many cases, the web site software can detect whether you have JavaScript enabled and behave accordingly. If you have JavaScript disabled, you may receive an error message while trying to perform a function that requires it.

To help prevent unauthorized and/or unwanted access to our site and in some cases, to meet mandated accounting requirements, we collect the current time/date and your internet (IP) address when you fill out forms that submit or change information that will be saved to the web site database.

Our web server also collects anonymous information that we use to help diagnose problems with our server and to track web traffic on our site. This helps us answer questions such as what content to focus on, which browsers to support and when to perform web site maintenance.

We do not use cookies, web bugs or any other form of user identification or tracking.
